Pros

Used to be stable, but they have consistently been doing layoffs. Can't really think of any pros other than the workload is light. Bio-Rad feels like the place you go when you don't have any other job offers.

Cons

Cheap company; leadership is a bunch of clueless old men; they don't know how to stay current and keep up with competitors. They force a 3 day RTO (return to office) while not going themselves. There is no free food in the office. Those who have been at the company a long time are allowed to stay remote. There is no accountability for managers who waste millions on initiatives that go nowhere.

That's a lot to unpack, especially in an online review but thank you for sharing your perspective. While experiences can vary by role and time, we take feedback like this seriously and use it to focus on where improvements are needed. For example, the right balance of remote and onsite work is an area of ongoing discussion and debate--among companies globally, not just at Bio-Rad. We wish you the best in the next stage of your career.

Unpredictable corporation

Pros

Your experience is dependent on who your manager is. You could have the best experience or the worse. I've seen very intelligent people who were there for 10+ years randomly reassigned to another manager and their lives become living hell. Pay is higher than average for minimal work. Annual raises and bonuses.

Cons

If they don't like you anymore, they'll just be mean to you until you quit. A lot of people gets lay offs when their stocks crash, which happens often. It's a big corporation so your hard work will go unrecognized. They change the company structure every year. HR is a joke.

We appreciate you sharing your experience. As part of the Bio-Rad HR team, we assure you that we take employee feedback and making progress as an organization very seriously, but it sounds like there were some issues that were not solved to your satisfaction. You're right, things do change at Bio-Rad. We're in a dynamic industry that grows and changes and we have to adapt accordingly. The last several years have seen dramatic changes in our markets. While we understand how difficult change can be, at Bio-Rad we also consider our ability to adapt to be an asset. We wish you well in the next stage of your career.
