Pros

The benefits and bonus plan, especially the LTI, are nice. We were always paid on time. There are some good people here and I made some friends.

Cons

Truly awful leadership. Very senior "leaders" berate employees in meetings. New ideas are not welcome, and you will be ostracized for daring to think differently or for challenging status quo. Micromanagement is common, so be prepared to have VPs meddling in your day-to-day work. Psychological safety is largely absent, so eventually you will just stop speaking up altogether to protect your health. Yes-men and other suck-ups are valued and promoted, regardless of their accomplishments or rather total lack thereof. There's also a lot of backstabbing and people playing games to remain in favor with senior leadership.

Pros

1. Compelling mission -- this company doesn't do 'me-too' drugs. We are trying to solve the really hard problems where the need is huge. 2. Still one of the leaders in neuroscience drug discovery & development (although that may be changing). 3. Has historically been big on innovation and willing to take big risks to achieve big successes (although that may also be changing). 4. Good compensation & benefits. 5. The company makes extra effort to help employees feel valued, from big things (e.g. wellness weeks where the whole company is off) to little things (e.g. free coffee and fridges stocked with half-and-half).

Cons

1. With revenue from the MS franchise declining, cost reductions and layoffs have been implemented and that always takes a toll on morale. 2. Disease area focus in shifting beyond neuroscience, which may be a good thing long-term but makes this a time of heightened uncertainty. 3. Pharma jobs are inherently unstable, even more so when major products are losing patent protection.
