      Horrific Senior Departmental Leadership Results in Fear of Retaliation

      Pros

      The company strives to provide excellent patient therapies and has made great corporate strides over the past few years.

      Cons

      Some departments function on an environment of fear where senior departmental leaders are not held to the same standards as lower level employees, creating a toxic environment. Significantly constrained resources lead to unrealistic expectations and inability to meet established goals. Over the span of several years, it was my observation that HR does not support the employee and is swayed by political/managerial bias.

      Employees are GREAT .... Management is awful

      Pros

      When working with the employees the are great, they share information they really appreciate the information you impart to them.

      Cons

      Management has no idea what-so-ever as to what is going on. They complain about things they are actually the root cause of. When you have a discussioin about a timeline which has a bearing on the conversation, they have no idea of what has happened when. They ask you a question, you answer it and then they accuse you of being defensive.

      Benefits (summer Fridays, health+dental, PTO)

      Cons

      Utterly disorganized company full of silos. Frequently engineered urgency due to lack of planning and forward thinking. Managers aren't doing any actual managing. Communication is an alien concept to Biogen leadership. When someone leaves (and currently everyone who can, does leave), their work just gets reassigned to someone else. Stingy with pay and promotions.
