Pros

Currently feels stable. Coworkers tend to be more competent than other places I've worked. Resources are there to do some interesting work, although does take some work to secure them. Benefits are solid overall, although base salary and annual stock bonus is a bit lower than competition in my experience. If stock price rises in the future, that may help, but it just seems to be taking a beating so far.

Cons

There is opportunity for improvement with culture and workload balance. The high degree of accountability (which is a good thing overall) combined with low desire for collaboration between groups makes for a slightly unpleasant culture, although it seems to be moving in the right direction. Workload, on the other hand, is moving in the wrong direction as leadership is rightfully focused on driving every bit of growth possible. The teams are pretty burnt out.

Pros

Flexible. Collaborative. Overall positive environment

Cons

Pay could be better given the cost of living in Boston. I also just don't quite fit in with the culture within my department, unlike my past companies. I do not feel as though I can fully trust my coworkers; have had issues with people speaking of others behind their backs, without ever confronting them directly about the improvements needed in their work.

Thank you for your honest feedback. We're glad to hear that you’ve experienced flexibility, collaboration, and a generally positive environment—those are values we strive to uphold across the organization. We also recognize that compensation needs to be competitive, especially in a high-cost area like Boston, and we continue to evaluate our pay structures to ensure they reflect market realities. We're sorry to hear that your experience within your department hasn’t felt as inclusive or trusting as it should. Psychological safety and open communication are critical to a healthy team culture, and we take concerns like these seriously. Your input helps us identify areas for improvement, and we appreciate you taking the time to share it. Any additional feedback you can provide related to your experience is always helpful, please don't hesitate to reach out with additional details. You can do so confidentially by emailing talentfeedback@biogen.com. - Maria, HR

It’s a job

Pros

I get a paycheck. And a bonus. And RSUs too but the stock has tanked with no sign of any potential for comeback so RSUs aren’t all that special.

Cons

Back to back to back layoffs and a general mandate for “open innovation” without any guidelines on what that actually means have all killed morale New group leader has taken over recently and has created a toxic work environment. Changed from hybrid to 5 days onsite site in the name of culture and collaboration. Except nothing is actually done to establish culture. And the group leader actively works against collaboration. No clear vision on what he wants to do and zero information to anyone on the group on what they’ll be working on. How can we collaborate if you’re not sharing what you want?
