The work schedule was very flexible.

Cons

I became part of Birch through the recent acquisition of Cbeyond. This was the worst experience I've ever experienced. We were released from the company after we were told our jobs were safe. We were given 4 days notice that our services were no longer needed. My experience with this company is that they are not very interested in good customer service nor were they interested in retaining good help.

I do not have to work directly for the COO. The structure and micro management on that side of the house is unbelievable.

Cons

It is a very silo'd and segmented company. Communication across these silos seems non existent. The product portfolio is lagging the industry and the products being developed are not new or exciting. All processes are extremely manual and create frustration across the board.

They're good at buying out other businesses and turning them into a money-machine.

Cons

Terrible Customer Service; No Sense of a tech support infrastructure; They will fire well-paid employees who do a great job and hire poorly-trained people to do the job at half the cost. HR is a nightmare; getting a simple lay off letter is like pulling teeth. WARN laws were violated when the entire Denver Center was laid off. The timing of the layoff was such that they stated they didn't have to pay us bonuses for the year we helped make the profit our bonuses are supposed to be based on. Do not work for this company if you value customer service. They do not value their customers, employees or anything that costs them money.
