Pros

-Amazing product. -Culture outside of the sales team is great. -Company outside of the sales team does embody good values as does the product. -Healthy work/life balance instituted throughout aside from the sales team.

Cons

The CRO is a massive bully that permeated a very toxic culture on the sales team. They were granted an immense amount of power when they came onboard and have utilized that power to an unchecked degree. They have chased out multiple quality managers (I had 3 in one calendar year, and it took almost 6 months to hire a replacement) and a soon to be exodus of at least 3 other AE's. Reporting incidents to HR is futile and will only lead to punishment. The higher ups have given them carte blanche to throw any amount of weight around with zero repercussions. The following is a list of examples: -Will repeatedly threaten your job, often times over trivial manners. As well as do this in front of other individuals. Numerous citations of "uncomfortable conversations". -The cultural slogan for Bitwarden is GRIT (Gratitude, Responsibility, Inclusion, and Transparency). The CRO embodies none of these qualities. -We took a mandatory CA state harassment training seminar that was very in depth. There was an entire section devoted to workplace bullying. The CRO violated every facet detailed in the workplace bullying trainings. Yet, nothing is ever done to address it. -Heavily discourages utilizing PTO. Also emphasized the importance of family, yet would frown upon taking any time for maternity leave as you get removed from the pipeline rotation. Numerous times a team member would have a child, and then be expected to be back on Monday or else chastised. -The same behaviors are displayed during in person meet ups. Yelling, screaming, intimidation over very obscure items. -Brought in new hires making significant higher levels of compensation for the same job title. 30-40% higher then those that have been there multiple years. They then chastised the team for discussing said compensation levels. -Did a major disservice to the reps with their compensation plan. In one instance, due to the structure and unbalanced compensations for new hires, there is a new hire getting paid more to bring in less revenue compared to a top performer. -After making a second manager quit, his first meeting overseeing the team he remarked "if any of you think I'm a jerk, we can have a private conversation and I can tell you why you're wrong." -Too emotional and petty to have as much unchecked power as they do. -A manager upon leaving declined to speak negatively on the record against the CRO citing fears of retaliation that would negatively impact their career. This was further evidence of the limitless amounts of power granted. -Enjoys mocking/laughing/flaunting his powers with phrases like "You can do anything you want your last day here at Bitwarden."

Pros

The people are genuinely extremely welcoming and willing to help. I don't feel like a burden to anyone with any question I have. The global team is diverse and the team seems to do a good job at keeping everyone included in events and decisions as best they can, which I appreciate. Transparency is a real thing here. The leadership is candid and shares not only the wins, but also where we can improve, helping us to stay aligned to broader goals and recalibrate. The internet security market is hot and growing, and Bitwarden seems to be in a great place to grow in the market and has a passionate customer base supporting and advocating for the product given its open source nature. People are super passionate about the product and their work here so the energy is contagious and makes coming to work enjoyable even with the mundane tasks that come with every job every now and then.

Cons

Growth has been quick, so documentation and tooling should be kept top of mind as new people join. I think the team does a good job for its size and capabilities, so continuing to keep an open and transparent culture is something I would like to continue seeing from Bitwarden.
