Pros

Entrepreneurial company, great technology and innovation. The company does make an effort to be competitive in benefits, pay and work environment, in a somewhat systematic sort of way. Great buzz, tech darling in Canada, etc.

Cons

Typical bureaucratic problems of growing companies; excessive politics within management silos, far too many top-down processes are a result of empire-building and jockeying for position;middle management doesn't really walk the walk as far as career growth, though the HQ generates all sort of nifty-sounding HR policies and guidebooks.

Pros

Great teamwork. Great management. Great career advancement opportunities. Free BlackBerry. Individual contributors get lots of decision making input. The company has grown fast, so a lot of business processes are struggling to catch up. Still, the company is moving in the right direction, the right projects have been green lit. the red tape is kept to a minimum, lots of application integration is going on. You can really go in and make your mark early. Past experience in other companies is invaluable in helping you shape the culture, teams, and processes of a growning company playing catch up. Great fun.

Cons

You've got to be on all the time. the bar is set high. The BlackBerry means you're never really off the clock.

Pros

Great opportunity awaits at RIM. Many new and exciting roles open up on almost a daily basis. Being on the leading edge of technology in a market that has so much room to grow really presents a unique opportunity to many that seek it.

Cons

Growth. It has pro's and con's. The cons here would be that the company is maybe growing a bit too fast, and managing that growth is tough. Due to the constant need for competent individuals, sometimes the wrong people are promoted into higher visibility roles, while others are hired into the company that simply would have not come close to making the cut just three years ago. As the company gets bigger, who you know is becoming more important then what you know.
