Pros

Some of the managers will really go to bat for you and encourage and help you reach the level you are aiming for

Cons

Lots of favoritism in the company. Most positions come from who knows who or what your last name is. Lack of communication between departments Pays lower than average

Pros

TLDR: decent choice if you only need a job for a year or so while looking for something else Freedom to complete tasks in a way that I see fit as long as accuracy and efficiency are maximized. Solid benefits package.

Cons

No growth path and no communication on how to grow within the same department. Told the company is growing and doing well year over year, but none of that success makes it to the warehouse employees other than a "Nice work!" Also told when I start that there will be plenty of opportunities in the company as it continues to grow, but have seen very little. Only promotion opportunities within department are if someone above you leaves, even then not a guarantee that role will be available. Very poor communication, I typically get news and info from associates on my team as opposed to my supervisor or manager. Being top performer in entire department means very little. Yearly cost of living raises disguised as performance raises, scale of 1-5 with 5 being impossible to achieve, with no feedback on how to be better. Attendance, for example, you can come in early and stay late to make sure tasks are done, never come in late, hardly ever take time off, and that only gets you a 4 rating. There seems to be no effort made to retain warehouse employees, almost all of the top performers I've had come through my area all have left because they got better job offers elsewhere. No real effort to address drama or stopping rumors spreading. Known causes/spreaders of these are only given taps on the wrist and no actual consequences are given. Direct management will ask leads and associates to come in earlier than normal 8am start during busy times, and reprimand for being late to the early start time, and come in at 9 like they do for non-busy times. When I've brought this up, I'm told it's fine because they do a lot of work outside of the normal hours. Which leads into a broader issue of inconsistent policy enforcement. For example, we have been told that safety-toed shoes are mandatory for walking anywhere besides designated areas in the warehouse, no exceptions. But then told there are exceptions when it's inconvenient for the people coming into the warehouse don't want to wear the safety toe caps. You can develop automations that save the company tens of thousands of dollars, and not get recognized for it. But you can make a fancy excel spreadsheet and be praised for it and nominated for the company's internal innovation award. There's little to no safety enforcement presence in the warehouse. The person in charge of it has way too many other responsibilities. So the enforcement falls on supervisors and leads, who have no real training in the OSHA standards. Achievements and taking on responsibilities outside the scope of your role are not acknowledged or considered for any advancement. The only internal opportunities are if a different division has a job opening. Unless you work in the headquarters building, any issues or setup that IT is needed for, you are met with indifference no matter the urgency of the issue or ignored, so you're forced to find workarounds for the months before they get around to helping someone in the warehouse. This is getting too long, but there are many other issues.
