Pros

Overall, I enjoyed my time at Square. As a software engineering you are exposed to all kinds of interesting problems in the financial space. Engineering talent was a positive surprise.

Cons

Company grew from 2000 to almost 4000 relatively quickly. Career advancement can depend on department and manager, although it's a very typical problem at most places I have been working at. Being on-call is expected. The on-call experience is also very team dependent.

-great benefits -laid back yet professional -room for career growth

Cons

-inconsistency in expectations -poor communication -no pay raise or advancement when you are a top performer and are asked to join the Priority team. This team supports many more products, works less desirable hours, has more responsibility, and tougher cases than the "general" queue team.
