Great company, but it could be much better, it's a shame!

Pros

* Amazing place to start your career as you will be exposed to a lot people from different backgrounds, cultures etc and for me this is extremely positive in the workplace; * Strong culture with good principles such as being transparent, being bold, being honest etc, something which should be common sense anyway; * High tech company, if you like technology then Bloomberg has a lot to offer; * Shadow culture, once you are in take advantage of the Shadow scheme, most internal groups lets you shadow them so you can learn more about what they do; * Ensure you have a path to follow once you start as this will help your journey in the company, otherwise years will fly by and you might miss on good opportunities; * Great benefits and perks;

Cons

* Lack of transparency on internal hiring process a lot of times they will won't give you a feedback or will give you a poor feedback when you try to move to another team, no matter how you are performing, the competitiveness internal is extremely high; * Lack of transparency in salary is a joke at this company, I understand salary shouldn't be disclosed but when you think about moving to another role internally the employee should have the right to know the salary range for that new position, they should have some sort of guide to give a hint to the employee, they claim to be transparent but with the 2 points above they ARE NOT, and the culture is you shouldn't ask as it doesn't look good, I have a feeling the salary gap in some of the teams are huge and people are doing the same job, sometimes someone on a very low salary is doing much more than someone earning more and this keeps going for YEARS!; * Company is too big so you are just a number, no matter how good you are in this company you need to be politic and watch out for opportunities and network, I missed out in lots of internal jobs because I get the job done, I don't lick anyone's *** and therefore I felt let down.... in the end of the day you are just another employee that they can replace easily so make the most of it, learn and if you don't adapt get out there as there are loads of better companies that carers more about the employee. * HR team is slow, most of the times not helpful, again company is way too big and HR doesn't feel close to you, sometimes a waste of time to get them involved on anything. * Internal policies can vary a lot from one department to another which makes the workplace not EQUAL at all, some can do a lot more (for instance travel to their home country and work from home as much as they want, and others cannot even ask for that). * Higher management doesn't really care about the employee, when it comes to what's good for them or people's life they will always think about the business, if you are lucky enough to have a decent manager then you might get away with stuff, otherwise it's hard.
