When times are good, you have nothing to stress about. You can literally do nothing all week, and during your 1-on-1 with your TL, likely a young, fresh out of school Team Leader whose only work experience is at BBG, they’ll still praise you for how well you’re doing. But when times get even slightly bad, your psychiatric doctor will be on speed dial. It’s easy to move around teams and quickly reach $100K if you're just starting out! Years ago, I started in ADSK making $70K, and within 18 months, I was earning $100K. Another 18 months later, I hit $120K in sales. After three more years in sales, I was making $160K in my late 20s. The knowledge you gain during your time at ADSK is unmatched. There’s nothing like it out there! The learning process is arguably stronger than what you’d get at a financial firm. You either: Start your career at BBG—stay a max of 6 years or End your career with a "Mom job", clocking in and out for years, doing the same BS that has no impact on that corporate monster and making some mid-class money.
Cons
I left after six years and realized that, in the data sales world, I was actually being underpaid with a $160K salary. In my next gig, I had a $150K base salary and made $70K in commission earning $220K in my first year. Way too many pointless internal meetings. "What's your fun fact? Blah, blah, blah..." (high-pitched voice!!!) And then there’s all the pointless traveling, shaking endless hands while giving out your business card that piles up at every desk and begging clients for five minutes of their time to showcase, for the hundredth time, the new news function that does the same crap, just in a different direction. You’ll quickly turn into that annoying solar panel sales guy to your clients.
