Pros

-Work-life balance is great. Most people can be out of the office by 5-6. -You can work some of the best minds in the finance industry -Pay is good for the amount of work you put in

Cons

-Corporate politics are alive and well. If you suck up to your manager, you'll be pigeon hold. -Horizontal Career Structure: Some people like this, but there are such few managerial positions that a "promotion" is moving to a different team but as the same position. -You can be the best performer but if you're not playing the bloomberg game, you'll be stagnant in your career there. -The company is not innovative any more. Things move real slow and not much room for creativity.

So close to ideal that the flaws pop out

Pros

Good salary given the work/life balance, good people, many possibilities for networking with the whole industry. Interesting work if you get on the right team. Internal mobility is excellent.

Cons

Limited upsides for ambitious hard workers, unless you are in Sales. Engineering is bloated and some teams there have a negative approach of saying no reflexively. Ostensibly a flat culture but in practice, "have your manager call my manager" is what actually happens.
