Pros

-The engineers and technicians are all awesome -Lots of room for you to grow in a technical manner

Cons

management, a lot of upper management causes Blue Origin to be more bureaucratic, and its causing blue origin to have a more boomer feel to it. The technical talent is almost akin to any of the other new space industries yet it seems like we keep not meeting our potential. Its akin to having a team with great players but horrible coaches and general managers

Pros

Blue has an incredible mission and they strive to value and empower their employees while pursuing their goals in a bullish way. This is really exciting and rewarding work and I've never been apart of a company where so many employees are so happy and fired up to work here. They just improved their 2022 health plans and 401k to be extremely competitive. As an employee I feel heard, compensated well, and feel as though I have a clear path for excellent career growth.

Cons

Blue is hyper focused on making the right hires so their interview process can be lengthier than others. Some view this as a con but as an employee, I appreciate it as it protects our culture and ensures we are working with the best in each respective field.

Pros

Abundance of grounded, intelligent, and inspiring colleagues mostly all doing the best they can

Cons

Upper management mirrors US politics and mainstream media - scripted speeches, attempted manipulation of the masses, seemingly phony engagements and personas... Then somewhere up there (really seems to happen right at Bob given at least a few of the directors are really great) “not if…” just isn’t an acceptable answer. Engineering judgment and requests for what’s truly needed to accomplish the goals competently and without sacrificing the humanity of their workforce are ignored or overriden, which leads to no or improper information flowing up, compromised outcomes or unrealistic and missed deadlines with overworked staff, and not surprisingly then, high attrition and brain drain amidst rapidly growing programs without fully documented engineering or processes which only makes things even more challenging for those left.
