      Being a Machinist at Blue Origin

      Pros

      Everything about this job is a pro. The management is always willing to listen and help with any problem. We do a lot of R&D so the job is always challenging and I learn something new almost every day.

      Cons

      Some of the newly hired machinists seem to have a problem with doing their job without complaining about it.

      Passionate, dedicated and smart employees who give it their all.

      Cons

      President is a bottleneck. Could certainly stand to use best practices in all arenas. Many times, it's not necessary to reinvent the wheel.

      Promises and potential struggling with growth

      Exciting, challenging, hands-on work. Long term vision and dedication from Bezos. Starting to change stagnant business practices.

      Cons

      Upper management levels are out of their league, unable to manage company growth and production of rockets. Too many managers from traditional aerospace unable to adjust their practices and instead shield themselves from all decision making. Growth has resulted in large amounts of employees just muddling through while approx 1/3 of core employees do the heavy lifting.
