Pros

-Smart technology business group -Powerful, practical mission anyone can get behind -Fintech product

Cons

-Poor leadership. They keep bringing in C-suite leaders with either minimal leadership or lack of EQ. Founders are using these "leaders" to enforce bad ideologies with no transparency. We had a man of color join the sales leadership and he's gone and the business did not tell us anything about it??? They are strong-arming us to go back into the office even with positive covid cases week after week. They removed anonymous questions during All hands so people cannot share their opinions safely. Csuite has no diversity as the majority are Israeli and don't wanna embrace American work culture. -Career growth is nonexsistent. They only want to hire externally. When people have been here for years and sacrificed our mental health by working over 50 hours/week. Only to be told by HR that we can't be promoted because we don't meet the years of experience. A bunch of people left due to that fact getting offers with 20% or more pay increases and way better benefits. -No startup mentality. Series F but there are no processes because people keep leaving and nothing is completed. Things move slow. Too much red tape and ideas get shot down left and right if it is not done without the CEO's approval. -We recently did a rebrand. That's pretty much a bandaid to cover up all the internal issues and make the employees forget had bad it has got. They keep shoving in our faces that they're profitable but won't share details, raise another round, or pay people better.

Thank you for sharing your perspective and experience working at Bluevine. I personally read each of our reviews and this one moved me to respond. I deeply care about our employee experience and know we have some room to grow, however, I’m confident that we can address some of your concerns. After working from home for nearly two years, I understand how returning to the office can take some adjusting. For that reason our gradual plan for hybrid work allows for continued flexibility while bringing us together to fuel communication, engagement, community, and more opportunities for learning. We’ve already seen some advancements in collaboration and innovation while continuing to ensure the safety of our employees is a top priority. If you have a personal circumstance that doesn’t allow you to return to the office right away, we can definitely make accommodations through our Office Deferral Program. I also want to address your concern about career development. It’s really important to me that Bluevine is continually providing growth and advancement opportunities to our employees. There have been quite a few employees who have made tremendous strides in their career at Bluevine and I hope we can continue to do the same for others. We’re always looking into ways to enhance the manager toolkit to enable better career growth conversations including through our Leadership Training Program, which we just finished piloting. The value that exceptional and established employees bring is critical to our success. We’ve quickly grown in the last couple of years and we are constantly learning how to best communicate with our growing employee base. In every communication we share, we aim to be as transparent as possible, especially with the state of our business. While we’ve learned that our All Hands meetings work better with an open, transparent dialogue, we have also given the additional option of an anonymous inbox to make sure you always have a place to ask questions or make suggestions anonymously. I’m sorry you feel that you cannot share your opinions, that is definitely not our intention. It’s true that we are quickly growing but we are doing so responsibly. Given our industry, there are several protections and processes to follow to ensure that our customers' financial data and information are safe and secure. Responsible processes have been put in place to help us scale sensibly. As a current employee, I hope that you're able to open up a dialogue with your manager or our People team to make sure Bluevine can be the best place it can be. Eyal

Pros

The mission. BlueVine solely focuses on providing small businesses with the financial services they need to grow.

Cons

Lack of diversity. The organization is increasingly beginning to look like one demographic. When this issue was brought up, and suggestions of improvement were proposed, such as posting job listings on more diverse job boards for underrepresented populations, a response was provided stating that this would be a risk to the business and that BlueVine needs to hire the most qualified candidates. All diversity statements that the organization makes aren't based on any real data. Unfair HR practices. Personnel across the organization have varying titles despite being the same 'P Level.' To current employees: If you're a P4 and have a 'senior' title, know that you have colleagues at the exact same level with the same experience who have a 'head of' title, and while HR states that the 'head of' title was phased out, the organization continues to hire employees with this title because they can't fill senior-level roles. Below market compensation. People are exiting the organization in droves because they're either receiving below-market comp packages or small and, in some cases, non-existent raises. Employees are beginning to take on interviews elsewhere to see what they're worth and leaving upon finding out they're paid tens of thousands of dollars below market. There isn't much kindness here. People across teams and office locations hold a lot of resentment toward one another. Especially if you work on a technical team, you regularly experience harsh and heated conversations, are talked down to, and are often treated without respect.

Thank you for your review. It’s unfortunate to see that you had less than ideal experience while at Bluevine. I'd like to address some of the points you’ve made: * Diversity & representation: Bluevine is very intentional about creating a workplace that reflects the diverse communities we serve. I fully acknowledge there’s more work to be done on that front, however it's important to point out that over the past year we’ve made strides both towards gender representation and URM (underrepresented minorities) representation across all employee levels. * Diversity & hiring: Bluevine definitely seeks to hire the most qualified candidates. That’s exactly why we broadly search for a diverse slate of job candidates. Claiming that diversity would impose a risk to the business is simply incorrect as research has proven time and again that diversity results in stronger company performance. The management team is committed to having a diverse workforce because we believe it is the right thing to do for both Bluevine’s performance as well as to support our community. * Compensation: Our total compensation package, which includes cash compensation, equity, paid time off, and medical benefits, is designed to attract and retain talent. We continuously benchmark our compensation package to the market and we feel our overall rewards package is competitive. * Our employees are instrumental to delivering our important mission of building innovative financial solutions that help small businesses grow. We're proud and thankful to all of our employees and alumni for choosing to be part of Bluevine. If you're open to sharing more, I encourage you to reach out to us through hr@bluevine.com. We’d be interested in learning more about your experience.
