An exception in today's business world

Pros

Blum is a worldwide company, owned and managed by a family since three generations. Employees are people and not numbers and that fact sets Blum apart in today’s business world. Dialogue, trust and long term partnership are key elements of the company’s culture. Blum employees spend their lives with the company. Regularly we celebrate 20 - 30 - 45 years of service of our colleagues. Blum is a good and fair employer who gives employees the time and means to grow into their career. From an employer side as well as from the business partner perspective, at Blum, the words high quality and long term bare their full meanings.

Cons

The company is international but now and again the management thinks too local and too much about how it's always been done, not about how it could be done. Innovation is our key to longevity. The company applies it in some areas already since a long time. It should be globalized.

Pros

Benefits, hours, challenges. Mostly Friendly co-workers... "mostly"

Cons

Either no management or micromanagement. Told that they trust your judgment and then criticize your decisions. Do not show your supervisor to be incorrect, but do not make a mistake. Grudges are held and you suffer retaliation if you answer a question honestly when it contradicts the Blum Way. (The way I understand the Blum way is that management/engineering gets all the credit and glory, you get the blame.)

Pros

Good pay, good benefits, BCBS insurance

Cons

Too strict, 8 minute breaks and 18 minute lunches, off the wall business decisions, no long term disability
