-it's more about personality than work at Bobrick. The manager that you get will dictate whether you will last in this company or not, especially in your first year. It seems employees just pass on work to one another without really collaborating together with a goal. Most work seems to be done by a few people while there are employees all around that are there because they are tenured. The manager and her female cohorts would gossip for hours on end. This seems to be a common problem among the manager of my first rotation and the upper management are somewhat clueless and susceptible to manipulation, even though the company claims you have unprecedented access to them. Its a hoax. The company is still 50 years behind in tradition.
- My particular manager was very focused on short comings rather than skills, often bringing up the most of minor of errors that happened months ago.
-Accountability? Out the window. Candor? Don't you dare. Grit? Good luck. Passion? Doesn't really matter since management either likes you or not. Collaboration? Sometimes. Rethink? Nope.
The company is trying really hard to structure itself like a fortune 500 while going on a hiring spree but that's difficult when you have people with no college degree dictating the viewpoints of MBA grads. From my experience, many have walked out the door in months while others have moved up. It's either a hit or miss.
