The paternity leave policy in Boeing India is deeply disappointing. Offering only 10 days of paternity leave sends the message that a father's role ends with hospital formalities, paying bills, and completing paperwork. It overlooks the reality that a newborn needs two involved parents, and that a mother recovering from childbirth often needs substantial physical and emotional support during the first few weeks. Modern organizations increasingly recognize that parenting is a shared responsibility, not one that rests solely on the mother. A policy of just 10 days does not reflect that understanding. It falls short of supporting gender equality at home and misses an opportunity to foster a truly family-friendly workplace. For a company that demonstrates progressive thinking through benefits like education assistance and a car lease program, this policy feels surprisingly outdated. I hope the leadership reconsiders it and introduces a more meaningful paternity leave policy that genuinely supports employees and their families during one of the most important transitions in their lives.
