Pros

Good work/life balance. Job seems secure. Good entry level salary. Good benefits (401k, med, and education, use them!) Friendly, approachable, and welcoming co workers. It's a large company, so there's a large community attached to it.

Cons

I'm called an engineer, but don't actually do engineering. I'm largely a low level project manager, but without the salary of a PM. I have no interest in the work, and what I do is excruciatingly boring. It feels like I'm quickly becoming invaluable as an engineer, and stuck with this company. The pay is okay for an ME, but not great for the location. The bureaucracy and disconnect between (lets say) work statements is insane! I think this is a collect-a-paycheck job, and not a career.

Pros

We have some great dedidated people with some solid products.

Cons

Calhoun hires executives at millionaire rates who cant manage. He fired workers when employment was high then tries to hire them back at historic unemeployment lows. Procure ment goes through Arriba and India for the same part from Amazon at 40% less. BA pays Dell for useless contractors. Calhoun oferred 50 shares for staffers to stay 3 more years. Most left. You will be pressured to work without pay to pickup the slack for slackers. It can be a toxic environment.

Pros

-Incredible level of flexibility and work life balance. -A culture of compassion and understanding for family and life related events. - Wonderful co-workers with managers and leadership who put your livelihood above anything else. -Solid health care benefits, high 401(k) match, lucrative PTO and time flexing. -Meaningful work and decent career flexibility.

Cons

- Abysmal IT infrastructure tied to horrific approval processes and lead times. - Terrible salary progression for inexperienced and timid engineers. - Endless chair-warmers who spew jargon for a living. - Overly political leadership. Saving face here is often more important than owning up to problems. - Not good for young creative thinkers willing to work their hearts out. Boeing is a very old, mature business, that focuses on stability. This is great for experienced engineers who maintain a family and are satisfied with their careers. However, this culture is soul crushing for young ambitious engineers.
