Pros

Phenomenal Benefits! Boise has nailed the work life balance down for its employees. I worked 7 wonderful years with the Chicago Branch, not that it was all perfect everyone has bad days! The only reason I left this company was the commute from the Chicago suburbs to the branch location (nowhere near Chicago) was getting to be too much. Excellent 401k, Excellent Time off program, profit sharing, paternity leave for fathers, decent health insurance plans, FSA with company match, lucrative profit sharing plan, free short term disability.... plenty of other perks! Give this company a shot you’ll enjoy the extra time you get with your families! Safety program that is well designed and rewards you for being safe!

Cons

Perhaps this is localized... but, there is a clear disconnect between sales and OPS without a “real” effort to try and correct it. Technology seems to be average at best.... Salary for Frieght Specialist is not competitive with the current Market

Pros

Ok company to work for, nice people nice atmosphere. Safety is huge at this company, they are diligent about their safety practices and do care about no-one gets hurt slogan.

Cons

Corporate is too involved and they tend to micromanage the local management team by interfering on a regular basis .

Pros

I love the people. The company hires well and retains well. Visibility and access to Sr. leaders in Boise is very unique. Even people in support roles can influence change and progress.

Cons

It is difficult to promote if you are stationed at HQ. Most mid-level managers and Sr. leaders spend a great deal of time away from Boise before they move into advanced roles. This does make it hard when you have a young family and relatives you want to stay close to in Idaho. Likewise, the homegrown operating/POS/accounting systems make it next-to-impossible to telecommute or have flexible work hours. Again, these constraints make it tough when you have a sick kid or a situation that requires any flexibility outside of the old school 8-5. Advanced degrees hold no water - it is all about tenure/experience.
