Very uneven management across groups

Pros

Steady, if boring, work. There are groups within the organization that are very effective. Once you're hired and past your probationary period you're golden until retirement with great long term benefits.

Cons

Some ridiculously poor management. Also a bunch of "retired" employees who don't do anything. I worked there for over two years and had two colleagues who didn't do anything visible in our group over that whole time.

Pros

Highly Technical work, competent workers

Cons

Lack of resources - do more with less, clueless management - not technically competent and unwilling to learn their position.
