Pros

Great work life balance. If you're willing to put in the effort, you can move around to different projects if something isn't working out. But you'll need to do it yourself, you Career manager won't.

Cons

Terrible Project Managers - Think Michael Scott, but just not entertaining. Managers willing to lie about the nature of a project to get you to join. Career Managers and senior leadership don't seem to care what happens once you're placed on a project. Any advancement, or lateral movement is dependent upon you.
