Pros

Having a good admin team (corporate side) will make or break your experience. There's good work life balance, assuming you have support you can get at least one good promotion.

Cons

Ever since BAH wanted to go full on tech, they lost sight of their current people and trying to mimic all other tech companies in the irrelevant areas (titles, HQ location, etc). They have yet to diversify their client base and solely depend on the gov while maintaining consulting firm salaries (lower end with no bonuses, stocks, etc) but constantly want to frame themselves as a tech company. Multiple rounds of layoffs due to low profits, but donated money for the ballroom.

Was great until remote work was revoked

Pros

None now. I was laid off. Used to be remote and a lot of flexibility for working hours in regard to appointments etc. That all changed when some fool decided remote work should stop. Then our happy team was miserable. Then lay offs happened thanks to the imbecile in the oval office. A once happy job (albeit not paying a living wage) turned into misery.

Cons

Everything. FIGHT FOR REMOTE WORK! No one should be forced to work in office when the work can easily and productively be done from home. And, yes, we were more productive that way.

Pros

Some fun projects. Learned about AI development as a software engineer.

Cons

Developed bad engineering habits due to lack of seniority and experience in my teams. Good engineers move up the chain fast, leaving junior-mid engineers in senior positions. Had some teammates with 2 and 4 yoe in engineering not know basic developer skills. I saw highly under qualified individuals in positions they had no business being in. For every 1 person who is actually qualified to do the job at Booz, there is another person that is piggy backing off of the hard work of everyone else. Switched to a smaller gov contracting company and have loved it so far compared to Booz. People kept telling me that maybe I’ll be a comeback kid. The only way that happens is if every other company in the world goes bankrupt. Left Booz on my own accord despite still being billable because I was sick of the culture. Networking looked so forced whenever I would go to company events. You’re friends with people until it’s time to find a new project, then everyone is either your competition or just a resource for landing the next project. I didn’t even write code for my last 6 months, which was the actual nail in the coffin for me.
