Pros

Booz Allen is an entrepreneurial workplace, where your ability to execute, find new business and build a team are encouraged and rewarded. Since its a matrixed company, you're not hired for a project, but a capability, which is liberating for someone looking for interesting work, and not just getting pigeon-holed on a project.

Cons

It is a hierarchical company, where rank matters. Booz Allen can sometimes pay less, because people are there for the work and the reputation the company brings them. There can be quite some bureaucracy involved when you start looking for money to fund new opportunities.

Pros

looks good on a resume, experience with federal government, good benefits regarding health and retirement, the rest is average. pretty good communication with other staff and mangement for a federal contractor

Cons

growing way too quickly, easy to get lost in the shuffle, things seem to be changing, starting to feel more like I'm being 'used' as I could make the same amount or more as a civillian. Raises going down now. Poor communication between teams -- no good internal database to improve lateral moves to other job openings -- hiring new people instead of current talent. Assessments are too difficult and dependent on other people to help you get promoted. Biggest complaint -- no negotiating when accepting a new role. Must wait for assessment for raise even if you take on a bigger challenge, and there is usually some excuse as to why that is not a good enough reason for promotion or raise either. I wasn't even able to get my technical training this year which should be one of the benefits of working for a major firm.

Pros

Great compensation, good resume boost having the Booz Allen name recognition and there is still some hope for the potential of personal growth within the firm.

Cons

Major con is the current local leadership. There is little to no communication, weak ineffective leadership, and with no clear direction. The mass exodus out of the local office is almost comical. And the attempts to keep it quiet are something out of a Keystone Cops movie.
