Pros

Booz Allen Hamilton has a very team orientated work place with emphasis on independent decision making. It facilitates communication of new ideas and assists toward working on a common goal but also makes sure the best ideas rise to the top. Many of my peers are exceptionally motivated people toward their respective goals and demonstrate excellent professionalism in relation to their client and the company. Finally, the company grooms you for a career within Booz Allen Hamilton and thus creates the conditions for your own success.

Cons

On occasion there is a disconnect between the technical professionals and the managements. Usually these simply require a deconfliction, but can be stumble blocks toward and overall goal or mission requirement.

Pros

There are great training opportunities, both formal and informal. Booz Allen offers a lot of classes, has partnerships with various educational programs, and also has opportunities for individuals to present the lessons they've learned from their project to colleagues. The 360 yearly assessment process ensures that an employee's accomplishments and skills are evaluated by a number of peers, not just one manager, which helps to keep the assessments more objective and comprehensive. Booz Allen has a great reputation within the government consulting industry and are well respected in the DC metro area.

Cons

Projects that are more geared towards staff augmentation of a government agency tend to try to keep employees on projects for a longer period of time, hampering an individual's ability to grow from new projects, industries, and experiences. The 360 assessment process is very time consuming and dependent on the skill and motivation of the third party assessor. Some might say Booz Allen is becoming more of a government contractor than a true management consulting firm, especially since Booz&Co has spun off to become its own entity. Compensation is lower than competitors.

Pros

Great resume-builder and learning experience. Top-notch senior folks and peers make long days on the job enjoyable.

Cons

This is no 9-5 job. Your life is consumed by client work. Very little visibility into what project comes up next and the Mon-Thu travel schedule gets old quickly.
