Pros

Good pay and mostly consistent hours with occasional opportunities for overtime. Good health and retirement benefits with programs that encourage good health by waiving premiums. Not very physically demanding, but still active with many positions and processes to learn. Opportunity for growth is present and upper management seems to be very invested in growing their people. There is a lot of trust placed in the employees by management to operate with minimal interference, which is nice for those that are knowledgeable and capable.

Cons

SOP is very inconsistent, and in many places undefined. Also, virtually no organized system for training new positions, ergo employees very commonly train each other. The same trust that enables capable employees to succeed enables bad employees to hinder production without positive intervention such as retraining.

Pros

Most groups have very good lower management who have survived for long periods and bats for you.

Cons

There's little ability to advance. Unless you push for it constantly, they very quickly fall behind market competitiveness for salaries. There's never a reassurance that things won't go downhill in a year or two.
