Pros

Job is less high pressure than other jobs that pay comparably. Time is given for associates to develop their own projects.

Cons

Unless you are German or at least European, forget about career advancement if you are in any wing of corporate research. I have seen a lot of things that were morally not above-board happen at the research center that I worked at - you just had to look the other way if you wanted to be a "good" employee.

Pros

The people were very friendly and supportive in helping me achieve my goals. They seemed invested in my success. I felt completely fine interacting with and asking help from anyone below the director level, and even some directors. It definitely was NOT a hostile or stressful environment. I did not feel like people were trying to undercut or ruthlessly compete with each other. Overall, I was happy to go to work there everyday. They try to keep employees around when they can.

Cons

Due to its massive size and German leadership, there was a lot of hierarchy which was somewhat annoying to maneuver. That also meant it would be very hard to advance quickly up the ladder. You could definitely do it, it would just take a long time to do as it was expected you need to check several boxes within the company before even being considered for higher level management. The Farmington Hills office was an open-office layout which not everyone loved. Only directors had their own offices, and they had glass walls, so visible privacy was not really achievable. There were plenty of meeting rooms that were somewhat soundproof though, so contained meetings were still possible. It just may not be everyone's cup of tea not having the potential for your own private office/space.

Pros

The co-workers at the facility as well as the customer I worked with on a daily basis were great! I couldn't haven't asked for a better team to be a part of.

Cons

Some of the managers need to be replaced. My manager made it very clear who she really liked and who she didn't and it was never based on work performance. She kept people that she could socialize with and cut people who didn't interact with her much because they were busy actually working. Not only that but she gossiped about ALL of her employees to other employees in the facility. I honestly have NO idea how she has made it this far in the company but she is turning the place into a fun house rather than a professional environment. This is also a company that has NO room for growth, so if you are looking to move up in a company this is not the company you want to work for.
