Pros

The core values of the company are demonstrated through high levels of autonomy and trust throughout the organization. As Bose has very lean structures, they are essentially teams of expert individual contributors. There are pros and cons to this lean set-up, but overall, if an individual can establish high trust relationships, all works well. Infringing or violating the Bose essence and values is a quick route to ejection. The essence and values are real and sacred.

Cons

As the essence and values are so central, they inadvertently become the guide for governance and processes - meaning, as long as you abide by the essence and values, there isn't much more required in terms of documented processes or governance. Some would appreciate this type of openness and flexibility, while others could find this ambiguity to be difficult and time-consuming.
