Pros

1. Unbelievable experience advising companies on the most important strategic issues 2. Incredibly smart and motivated colleagues who continually challenge you intellectually 3. Fun and personable culture, hard working but not cut throat 4. Focus on creativity and finding new answers to client problems that will truly drive impact 5. Personally, I think the Philadelphia office (and partners) are amazing

Cons

1. As with any consulting firm, hours and travel can be hard some weeks. Especially Monday through Thursday your life is pretty work focused 2. For certain projects, it can seem like you undertake endless iterations on the same client materials 3. Some clients are not as nice as others

Pros

The people are incredible; I work with some of the smartest, yet fun people I have ever met, I love my project team and we are able to have a great time both while in a team room or out to dinner; the work is challenging; I am never bored and always engaged in my project; I think the performance review process is best in class - both informatl and formal feedback are valuable; Culture is a key reason I selected BCG over any other consulting firm, and I have not been disappointed with my experience; I have found a number of great mentors who I respect and who have guided me well throughout my career.

Cons

As with any consulting company, travel can be difficult, but BCG definitely works to make it "doable"

Pros

- Work on huge variety of business problems - including high level strategy, corporate development/M&A, marketing & sales, organization, operations - across multiple industries - Hone hard-core analytics, high level strategic thinking, and communication skills - Relative to other top consulting firms, strong focus on work-life balance - local staffing and strong local client base means less travel, partners/principals generally flexible, etc. - Partners generally accessible and insistent upon challenging how team (including themselves) thinks through solving client problems - Excellent reputation as top tier strategy firm - Generally down to earth culture and sharp colleagues who typically don't fit into one mold - i.e., hard to stereotype BCG consultants b/c firm values diverse backgrounds and individuality - Top notch benefits package (100% BCG paid health coverage, annual employer contribution to immediately vested profit sharing plan - in addition to annual cash bonus)

Cons

Overall, downsides are primarily the nature of working in strategy consulting and not BCG specific: - Hours can fluctuate greatly, with high highs (although still not banking hours) and low lows - Even with best clients with strongest relationships, still an advisor and sometimes treated as such - Time spent creating and iterating client decks BCG specific - Local staffing generally a plus in less travel and building relationships with local office, but forces you to be more proactive if interested in networking across offices - Problem solving approach typically good mix of "blank slate" vs. leveraging firm's accumulated intellectual capital, but could sometimes do a better job on the latter
