      Unsafe place to work

      Pros

      Excellent pay, free health benefits if you want to stay within the BMC network for your care, good retirement plan, great nurses

      Cons

      Parking is a nightmare and very expensive. You have to walk quite a way to get from any of the garages to the hospital walking amongst people who are high on drugs, homeless, etc. There are frequent safety incidents inside and outside of the hospital as well as in the garages. Many instances of employees being assaulted. Security is slow to respond unless you happen to be near the emergency room. SEIU Union is a joke. Not sure what my dues are even being used for since nothing seems to get accomplished or resolved

      A first job that stuck!

      Pros

      I completed the Critical Care New Grad RN residency in 2019 and I would highly recommend! 5-6 months orientation, extensive classroom and hands on training, and most importantly I felt supported and welcomed on my unit (Surgical/Neuro ICU). Coming up on my 3 year work anniversary in October and I'm not going anywhere!

      Cons

      You don't get the big name recognition like MGH/BI if you're into that sort of thing. Patient population can be a challenge, but being the safety net hospital, if we don't take care of them who will?
