Pros

Boston Scientific is a large corporation that allows for functional changes in jobs that smaller companies can't offer. The pay is good and the bonus program puts compensation at the middle to high end.

Cons

Sr Managment does not value employees like it used to. BSC used to be a big company with a small company mentality, making it very appealing to work there. Now, it's just like other large corporations with less than desirable Sr Mgmt.

Pros

It is always satisfying to work for a product that will eventually help people. Since this industry is regulated by the FDA, you opportunity for creativity is limited. Your creativity is often seen as a liability, which really takes the fun out of engineering. I guess every good things has its negatives; if you want to impact the health of people, you have to have many regulations. That brings me to another factor, there is a ton of paper work that goes along with this job. Everything needs to be monitored carefully to ensure the final product is same for its final use.

Cons

Sometimes you might not feel like you are contributing much.

Pros

Respect for all individuals no matter what their function in the company. A diverse culture and a company that seems more progressive than it might seem to outsiders. A good understanding of the organizational hierarchy and business decisions made by management. A knack for senior management to constantly motivate and congratulate the efforts of engineers and technicians.

Cons

Too many reorganizations in the last six months that affected me and my colleagues in a negative way. A good stream of communication from top executives down to all levels is missing. The cafeteria becomes a mad house where waiting for a burger takes 15 minutes--employees are oftentimes seen eating at their cubicles. There is no gym or form of recreation to take your mind off work. Being promoted seems like a case of time rather than sheer merit.
