Pros

Brilliant coworkers and interesting projects. Some of the brightest minds in medical science work here, and everyone is very helpful and willing to step up and do their part. Pay and benefits are very competitive. They take very good care of their employees. Middle management is engaged and helpful. Most of the time when issues are raised to them they listen and do what they can to address them. They will also do their best to elevate your career and make sure you are having a good experience. Work life balance is generally pretty good. There's definitely busy periods but no one bugs you about needing to prioritize family and health when you need to.

Cons

Some recent business trends are worrying. Executive leadership seems to be focused on acquisitions and relentless cost-savings rather than innovation. This has led to layoffs, canceled projects, headcount locks, and lean-run reorganizations which have left a lot of employees spread pretty thin. Cost-saving obsession has led to some projects being allowed to fail if budget or resources cannot be allocated, which has caused a lot of wasted time and frustration. Production systems are alarmingly frail. Cascading failures have been caused by components breaking and there being no redundancy (cost savings strikes again) or because a key person was not available and there is no backup (see again, cost savings), or because an engineer was allowed to make unilateral, undocumented changes with no regression testing. Again, these are production systems with compliance standards that are not being met. Remote work is no longer being supported, despite that it was a widely accepted work mode before the pandemic.

Poor management

Pros

One of the worst run depts in bsc. Managers over complicate simple validations to maintain pointless metrics, which supposedly will show them in good light.

Cons

Slow change. Over complicated interpretation of corporate processes that result in poor site level adoption
