Pros

Location is the best. Life is convenient. I worked here as research assistant for 4 years. The courses are pretty good. The research quality is quite satisfactory.

Cons

ENG school is small. The living expense in Boston is very high, which RA salary is relatively low. However, it is not problem only for BU. The RA salary is even lower in public university.

Pros

Great intellectual atmosphere, large number of renowned scholars, occasionally very smart students, low work load for grad students; lots of perks.

Cons

Low stipend, fellowship, or teaching compensation for grad students; the variance of student quality is huge; no campus.

Pros

Very good faculty members. They are all very talented and smart people, and they are all very nice. You can talk to any faculty member about physics, research, or any topic. Moreover, they are all very responsible people, and doing great researches themselves. For the student community, all are very clever and love physics. Always talk to each other academically. Besides, grad students here like to have fun, so you can expect a lot of activities organized by students. Physics department frequently invites speakers from other institutions or universities to give presentations, which is very helpful to broaden the perspective of knowledge.

Cons

There are not much free food in the department. The office for grad students who do not have advisors have no windows.
