Pros

- The work week is 35 hours, never more - Slow pace of work can be both a pro and a con

Cons

- Low salary and benefits - Bureaucracy can be frustrating at times - Rarely promote internally

Pros

Amazing benefits: matching 403b, health, dental. Classes are nearly free (90% off after taxes, for 2 classes/semester). Environment and culture can vary greatly. In small departments, can be very personal and fun. In large ones you can get pretty lost.

Cons

This place has so many employees that it takes forever to get buy-in to do much of anything. I spend more time getting buy-in than I do getting things done.

Pros

- Relaxed work environment - Great advisor and co-workers - Plenty of learning opportunities - Plenty of growth opportunities

Cons

- Can get boring sometimes - If academic research isn't for you then you'll crash out quickly - Academic pay scale leaves a lot to be desired
