Dynamic but quiet workplace

Pros

BU has very helpful administration. The place is mostly quiet, since the floors with classrooms are separated from office floors. The medical benefits are nice.

Cons

Any bureaucratic things are moving so slowly there... Library collection is rather weak. Working computers are outdated.

Pros

Boston is a great city. You are surrounded by an excellent intellectual atmosphere and the city has great culture and nightlife.

Cons

Again, many (a majority) of the faculty in the department show little commitment to graduate student professional development. That said, I think this is slowly being recognized as the department is making changes under the new chair of the department.

Pros

Great benefits and learning environment for recent college grads

Cons

Poor pay and not enough investment in mid-level career professionals.
