Great experience, but limited growth opportunities

I gained valuable experience and industry knowledge. My role allowed me to build strong skills and relationships with colleagues, and I truly enjoyed supporting residents and the community I worked with.

Cons

Career growth was very limited. When I applied for a corporate role, I was told my current position would be released — and if I didn’t get the role, I wouldn’t be allowed to continue in my job since they would already have backfilled it. Advancement often felt based on favoritism rather than dedication or performance, which was disheartening after years of commitment.

Cons

SMA team members are underpaid relative to the workload and level of responsibility expected. Upper management (especially AGMs) is often uninvolved in day-to-day operations, leaving SMA staff to handle tasks beyond their scope. Limited support when the team is short-staffed—management is generally unwilling to assist directly. Lease renewals and other important processes are frequently delayed Concerns raised by SMA team members are often left unacknowledged. The work environment can feel exclusive, with management forming cliques that are difficult to break into. Recognition for going above and beyond is minimal, which can be discouraging over time. Overall communication from leadership is inconsistent.
