Pros

Strong mission based work; legacy organization (106 years in existence!) in SoCal. Great leadership and team members across the org. Good/competitive benefits and salary.

Cons

More people need to know about our work. We've been a best kept secret for too long.

Pros

Braille Institute serves clients with visual impairments for free. OTs do not bill insurance and have the flexibility to work on interventions that are truly meaningful to the clients without worrying about reimbursement. OTs can also see the clients multiple times without the red tape involved with all insurances.

Cons

There are great changes happening with the new CEO, however many of the BIA staff that have been with the organization for 10+ years still do not know what OTs do.

Pros

Great organization with a great purpose; to help those living with vision loss or blindness by teaching them new skills to live independently and all at no cost to them.

Cons

I have been working here for over 10 years and never before now (past 2 years) have I seen such a productive and positive change. Better late than never and I cannot come up with any real cons.
