The organization provides invaluable assistance in helping those with recent and severe sight loss adjust to a world for the sighted

Cons

Employees throughout the organization are in constant free of being belittled, demeaned of being fired for "not following the program".

Great culture among peers, but only good for transition into nonprofit world

Pros

I worked at Braille Institute for more than 5 years. There is a great sense of camaraderie among peers. The sense of family is extremely strong between people even across multiple departments. The connections you make here with coworkers and students can really last a lifetime!

Cons

There is a very low morale among lower level workers. This is in part due to a lack of leadership. Upper management do not receive regular training in management, the number of those who actually hold higher degrees is ridiculously low, and the financial compensation of their talented workers is laughably low.
