Pros

Staffed with caring, compassionate professionals who are committed to the mission Housing First, Harm Reduction philosophy Plenty of room for advancement

Cons

BG is a housing development organization and support for social services employees (middle management social workers and frontline service providers) is lacking. Hierarchical leadership and management style White leadership and token DEI efforts

Pros

The company is sadly one of the best nonprofits in New York City and they have a useful therapeutic safe haven model.

Cons

Breaking Ground underpays and overworks their employees. They act like everything is the employee's fault and not management. They will write you up for failing to perform an impossible workload. They have "burnout seminars" where management fails to take accountability for their execrable treatment of their employees. We just unionized so they are attacking their employees and getting them to quit or getting them fired.
