Pros

Broadcom's executive management (CTO, CEO etc.) has good vision. So the company succeeds and will succeed in future. They have a lot of cash on their balance sheet. This allows them to sustain investments in new fields they venture into. They pay well, especially stock based compensation (although stock based compensation has been reducing, still seems to be better than others).

Cons

Mid level management is completely incompetent with horrible product planning and execution Mobile platform group has had close to 20 product development that management has abandoned at various stages of development in the past 4yrs. The group is also understaffed on the pretext that it is not making money yet. This puts enormous work load on the engineering people. When people burn out, they just let go of them and hire new people. The group is top heavy and so forget about growth or good remuneration. Mentorship is non-existent. So forget about professional growth / personal development. Infact management considers using engineers' skills developed in previous work experience as their forte. Working here for maybe 1 to 2 yrs to make decent money is ok. Any longer, your work-life balance cannot be managed well and at the end of it not worth it

Pros

Great place to get technical exposure, definitely gives enormous opportunities to improve technical expertise

Cons

Limited opportinuties to grow up the management ladder, lately compensation structure does not align with traditional broadcom philosophy of stock compensation, basically compensation is (base salary + bonus in form of RSU's which do not work out much + a miniscule 401k match), previously stock options used to be given out which used to make Broadcom lucrative but not anymore
