Pros

Co-workers are technically excellent. Stay proficient at what you do and maintain visibility with your successes. The division I was in emphasized a positive work/life balance, but be prepared to put in some weekends and nights on occasion.

Cons

Upper management pressure to improve operating profit in business units may lead to layoffs, cost cutting, or divestiture of poor performing divisions. Some design work is shifting from the US to Asia to cut costs.

Pros

The people that work at Broadcom are extremely talented and very hard working. I can say that not only is this true for classic Avago but also those from classic Broadcom. Hock is a brilliant business man.

Cons

Unfortunately true investment in Research is limited. The budget is so overly constrained that it feels that we are less efficient or not enabled to do the job.
