Pros

Market stability. Been with the company for a loooong time. Salary is good as are RSU's (when tRump is not busy crashing the market) Teammates and customers are great to work with.

Cons

This is where managers go to die...unless you're a career manager. Then you will thrive...and only if you define "thrive" as maintaining the status quo and being reduced to metrics-based micro management. If you value the challenge and creativity it takes to build and manage a diverse team of talented people with a broad range of skills, Broadcom is not for you. On the other hand, it's a perfect fit if you want to show up and resign yourself to the status quo...you will do very well here. Nothing wrong with that! If you are looking for advancement, look elsewhere; Broadcom prides itself on encouraging employees to stay in the same role until they die. "Advancement" is linear and can be measured on a quarterly basis - "I made it through another quarter >> advance to the next quarter". Not good or bad, just not recommended for those with the motivation to solve complex (fun) problems.

Pros

Pay, RSUs, transparency of what they care about (margin/profitability). You are there to make them money, and they will pay you handsomely for it. No other fluff.

Cons

Increasing prices or contract restrictions on customers year over year. Layoffs every quarter. Hock Tan speaking disparagingly of VMware's number of engineers and joking about trimming the fat/the "line of doom" of his underperforming BUs

Pros

Pay can be great if you stick around long enough to get it. The CEO is kinda funny and very direct, but he’ll also have no problem laying off thousands of people.

Cons

The list is long… it’s not a real company. Life at Broadcom is only about financial results. People don’t mean anything and even business relationships don’t mean anything unless they achieve a certain financial goal. The company is clear about it though, so I would say management is very honest.
