Pros

VMware is a well-established company with a strong reputation in the tech industry. The work environment is generally collaborative, and there are plenty of opportunities to learn and grow, especially for those interested in cloud and virtualization technologies. Leadership communicates overall direction clearly, though priorities can shift quickly at times, which may require adaptability. Work-life balance can vary depending on the team, but overall it is manageable. Compensation and benefits are competitive, and the company invests in employee development. Pros: Innovative technology, career growth, good benefits

Cons

Cons: Fast-paced environment, occasional shifting priorities

Leave your soul at the door

Pros

Top of the market compensation, generous equity grants + skyrocketing stock price. Welcome to the .1%

Cons

Listen, this company doesn't care about you. Every aspect of the employee experience communicates ambivalence if not outright hostility to its workforce. CEO doesn’t bother pretending he’s guided by anything but pure, uncut capitalism. If he could run the business without any of us, he would -- and with every quarterly RIF, he gets a little closer. The honesty and clarity of purpose might be refreshing if it weren’t, you know, your livelihood.  If you're in a customer facing role, prepare to deal with well-earned mistrust and hostility. If you're motivated by doing the right thing for your customers, look elsewhere. You won't be building partnerships, you'll be taking hostages.

Good compensation, toxic culture

Pros

Salary and RSUs are lucrative

Cons

Toxic leadership, long hours and high urgency, no support. Have seen multiple team members develop stress-induced health conditions from the negative work environment. With flat organizational structure, no room for career advancement/upward mobility.
