      A long time to nail down all the techniques required, but once real work began, it was quite rewarding.

      Pros

      A chance to work on real-world problems with people from a variety of disciplines, ones that likely wouldn't interact much in academia.

      Cons

      It has a very remote location, so interning here without a car would be extremely difficult. The site has very few sidewalks, so moving from one location to another requires walking in the road.

      Pros

      Top people, interesting characters, research environment, autonomy, and friendliness of most staff. Great location with good recreational facilities, birds and wildlife, woods to explore and social activities. Has a lot of community spirit.

      Cons

      The struggle for funding if you are on "soft money" can be stressful and soul-destroying. Some people are insecure and competitive.
