Pros

Decent pay and benefits. Nice office aesthetics.

Cons

Working at Brother has absolutely nothing to do with job performance and everything to do with politics. If you are not part of the Inner Circle you will know it by Day 3 and nothing you do will change that. If you are part of the Inner Circle, you can do a mediocre job, act unprofessionally (even nasty) toward other coworkers who are trying to learn the job, chat excessively with other others at their desks and make hour-long personal phone calls from your cube/office without management batting an eye. There is very obvious competition among management so managers have little time or interest in giving staff training and direction. Although I requested such on several occasions, I received virtually none from my manager. All non-management employees need to punch a daily time clock (yes, punch a clock!) and actually punch in and out for lunch! Yes, you have read that correctly! Really??? Any good manager will know when their staff is working. The ironic thing is, based on my comments above, the punching a time clock thing only measures the time you are sitting at your desk, not actually working, which for many is a very small portion of the business day. If you have the integrity to work hard, be professional and learn on the job, this is NOT the company for you.

Pros

A lot of opportunities to learn and management is very encouraging. Management usually leaves you alone as long as you get the job done. Competitive benefits and bonuse.

Cons

The staff runs very lean so they expect you to know a lot of different fields and be flexible even when it comes to tasks that are not part of job function. A lot of changes right now so a lot of uncertainty.

Pros

Stable job, steady pay and good benefits.

Cons

This a company managed by old people for old people that are set in their ways and resistant to change. The company is making so called changes but these changes are being felt more by the lower level employees while the senior management continues to stay in their cushy jobs. They refuse to encourage the young and dynamic workforce. Instead their potential is wasted on menial tasks at a time when they should be learning new skill sets. There is absolutely no opportunity to be creative or grow unless you are a yes man. They are finally starting to get some women in senior manager roles but none of the existing women employees have been empowered or encouraged to grow. The company lacks any diversity, in today's day and age this is hard to believe but it's a fact. The upper management has only white obnoxious men. Working here will only limit your career growth because you will be stuck doing the same thing under managers that hate their jobs and make you miserable. There is no trust within team members and there is no delegtation. Getting promoted after 5 years in the same job is considered normal and ambitious people loose their motivation over a period of time. Young people if any new ones that are hired are either related or friends with the bosses which in the long term creates an unfair work environment.
