Pros

Exposure to different industries and types of client and large degree of autonomy to get the work completed.

Cons

The management is focused primarily on new business/growth and not the development of staff. You can expect to be repeatedly placed in tough situations without advance notice and very little support. Management will say one thing such as not wanting to overwork employees and want there to be good work/life balance but all actions will be encouraging putting the job above all else in life and pressure staff to maintain heavy work hours year round with multiple busy seasons.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. At Brown Edwards, we pride ourselves in offering Associates opportunities for growth and provide challenges to support employee development. Public accounting can be a demanding career and it often requires long hours, but Brown Edwards is committed to providing work/life balance. Offering flexible work time and place, as well as a generous PTO and Emergency PTO program, are some of the many benefits our recent growth has allowed the firm to offer to make improve work/life balance. We encourage our employees to take full advantage of these benefits. We wish you the best of luck in your new career.

Pros

I like working here because I know what is expected of me and I know how the industry works. There is seasonality in our work so I know that hours put in during tax season are extraordinary. But I've also found my Leadership very willing to be more lenient after April 15. Plus, I can work remotely. BE did have 3 acquisitions in 2018/2019 and were aggressive opportunities. I see that as job stability and growth!

Cons

I was curious about the comment on losing money in the 401(k) - you can chose your own markets or have the company base investments on projected retirement date. My boss is always willing and responds quickly to answer questions. The path to Partner is quick - about 15 - 18 years - which isn't much time in a career. That's my path!!
