Pros

Builders Mutual promotes a friendly, casual and not stuffy/corporate atmosphere. They promote healthy living and work life balance. People at Builders are some of the friendliest people you'll meet, and it feels like a family. I also really appreciate the company's focus on development and they pay bonuses for pursuing professional designations. Overall benefits are decent, not the best I've seen, but above average.

Cons

Isn't a top paying company, compensation could be higher to compete with other carriers. Management can be disorganized and communication is lacking. When questions arise you'll get different answers on how things are handled depending on who you ask, so it can be frustrating and confusing.

Incredible Place to Work

Pros

I've read a couple of bad reviews on Glassdoor and feel compelled to respond. BMIC is a great place to work. The reviews here sound like disgruntled employees who might need to look inward. As a former coworker put it "If you are unhappy at Builders, you are just unhappy". The company is pretty flat organizationally and leaders are transparent and incredibly accessible. The company has been great at responding to our needs and the leadership teams seems to lack the big egos you might expect. Feedback is generally positive and performance management is never heavy handed. The company treats its employees well and that shows in how well the employees treat the company's customers.

Cons

Average salaries but made up for in the work/life balance and other benefits. Lack of promotional opportunities, but that's really more due to the size of the company and the length of tenure/high retention levels, rather than a leadership issue.
