This is some really great insight and I thank you for taking the time to write it and share it. So much of what you talk about is hard - the larger we grow, the harder it is to hold onto that small, intimate company feel. It's a helpful reminder that as leaders, we have to be extra sure that our mid level managers understand the communications and strategy and can articulate it clearly for folks. I know the changes to the summer and holiday parties seem disapointing, mostly because it's different than what we've done in the past, but I'd encourage you to keep an open mind. The changes were very intentional - and all built around a holistic strategy to bring more people together, more frequently in an intentional way. These weren't cuts to the budget, in fact, we are spending the same amount of money, but have just allocated in ways that we think have bigger impact and ROI to more employees. As for your disapointing comp conversation - comp conversations are one of my favorite things to have with employees. Let's have one!
