Burg Simpson reviews

Burg Simpson is an extremely unprofessional law firm. Their staff is treated with zero respect, and they are reminded consistently that they are replaceable. There is constant turnover, and this firm has become known as a revolving door. The pay is one of the lowest compared to other firms in the area. Human resources is only there to support the attorneys. If you are staff, your voice will never be heard. They truly do not care about their employees. My advice would be to work any place but here.

However, being a lawyer at Burg Simpson, is a dead end job. No one, other than the preferred shareholders (and that is really 2 people named Burg) make any real money at the firm. Regular shareholders are no more than glorified senior associates -- they simply earn a salary, used to get a car allowance (taken away from them last year due to budgeting issues) and perhaps a Christmas bonus. The firm has been on a downward spiral for the last 2 to 3 years, notwithstanding the pandemic. Michael Burg, the constantly self-proclaimed head of the firm, is an egotistical, insecure, thin-skinned, braggart. I doubt very much he is capable of handling a case from start to finish on his own and categorically, he is no longer able to try a case by himself. He makes everyone do the work for him and then he just wings it during trial or deposition. He surrounds himself with yes men and women, and is not pleased unless everyone who he comes into contact with, worships and pledges their loyalty to him. The firm is very poorly run. There is massive turnover by staff (paralegals/legal assistants), and in the last year three partners have left, as well as up to a dozen associates.
