Pros

Diverse and open minded staff! Enjoyed the work-life balance, working environment and professionalism. The best part were the workshops designed to increase people's knowledge in the field and stay up to date with technology. I also loved the creative meetings and network of people who are all doing cool individual projects! It was rare to have a dull conversation here.

Cons

I honestly can't think of any cons! BDG rocks <3

Pros

Everyone I worked with on the editorial/branded teams was incredibly kind, respectful, and friendly. There are frequently celebrations and happy hours (and not the kind of “we require you to stay til 10pm, but here’s some beer I guess” kind of happy hours). People across the board genuinely enjoyed one another’s company and hang out outside of the office, which is rare. Salaries are pretty good, and because the company is doing so well, there was never the ominous, impending doom feeling that most media companies have right now. (It’s one of the few companies that has put an appropriately high emphasis on branded content.) I always recommend people to apply for open editorial positions there. Overall, extremely positive experience.

Cons

The site’s launch had a notoriously rocky start, which has unfortunately overshadowed a lot of the amazing work its teams accomplish. (To be fair, the CEO seems to have since learned his lesson.) Writers’ rated are also pretty terrible for most regular freelancers, which makes strong, non-junior talent acquisition and retention very tricky for editors.
